General Information

Meiringskloof is situated in the Eastern Free State, 1.7 km from Fouriesburg.  It is located in a beautiful kloof surrounded by sandstone cliffs with open caves, thick indigenous bush and abundant bird life.

Accommodation is available in 11 self-catering sandstone chalets and 25 caravan / camping facilities.

Simply relax in the tranquil surroundings, undertake one of the excellent hikes (short or long) in beautiful surroundings or cool down in the swimming pool. Horseriding and abseiling are available at extra cost.   For the 4X4 enthusiast there are very scenic 4X4 routes with spectacular views (and varying degrees of difficulty) in adjacent Didibeng Mountain Park.

The Lesotho border is only 11 km away - people often stay at Meiringskloof  and take a day trip to AfriSki (95 km) to ski & snowboard in winter; or travel to the Katse dam (100 km) high up in the mountains of Lesotho for the day.

Meiringskloof works very well for family reunions or company weekends away as each family / group can stay in their own separate chalet and use the Lapa with or without its kitchen for communal meals.

To preserve the natural surroundings only a limited number of chalets and caravan/camping sites have been developed. It is advisable to book well in advance, especially for long weekends and during school holidays.

Out of Bethlehem take the R26 to Fouriesburg (Commissioner Street out of Bethlehem past Loch Athlone) – first turn-off left into Fouriesburg, left into Steyn Street; all the way to the end of Steyn Street; left onto the dirt road, left again in front of Glen Skye. The dirt road ends 1,7 km further in Meiringskloof
