H3 - DASSIEGROT

It was named “Dassiegrot” because it is built under a rock-face and the dassies used to graze on the lawn nearby - sadly not any more. Because of the growing number of visitors they have decided to move higher up into the cliffs.

The chalet is fully equipped with a 4 - plate stove with oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, pots, pan, cutlery and crockery. Bedding is supplied but no towels.

H4 -  PIET-MY-VROU

The “Piet-my-Vrou” is a shy bird which announces the beginning of summer  with its arrival early October. Its continuous calls of “ Piet-my-Vrou Piet-my-Vrou” greets visitors each morning throughout the summer months. With the first signs of possible overnight frost it leaves us for warmer climates.

The chalet is fully equipped with a 4 - plate stove with oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, pots, pan, cutlery and crockery. Bedding is supplied but no towels.

H5 - KRAAINES

This house was built in 1991 under the supervision of Oom Japie le Roux, a retired missionary.  Problems experienced during the building process gave him the idea to name the house after a crow’s nest. Apparently he had to order a smaller bath because the standard bath did not fit.

The chalet is fully equipped with a 4 - plate stove with oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, pots, pan, cutlery and crockery. Bedding is supplied but no towels.

H6 - UITSIG

“Uitsig” is the Afrikaans word for “View” and as H6 offers very scenic views of the cliffs on either side as well as down into the valley, it was decided to give the chalet the name Uitsig. It was the first chalet built in Meiringskloof and features a very interesting braai which was built under the overhang of the large rock behind it and where it is possible to enjoy a braai even when it rains!

The chalet is fully equipped with a 4 - plate stove with oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster, pots, pan, cutlery and crockery. Bedding is supplied but no towels.
